She is the sweetest little love bug. She is from a breeding farm, so new things are scary, but she just loves people and other dogs. She would do best in a home with another dog.

Foster Update:
Avon is a quiet little companion that is learning all about life in a safe and loving home. She is adjusting well to all of the new noises and routines. She will bark if she hears someone at the door, otherwise she's very quiet. She's curious as to what everyone is doing but is content to sit back and watch. She will let you hold her, bath and groom her but she is not a snuggler and she would prefer to lay on her bed nearby, that may change in the future as she gets more comfortable.

Treats- She loves treats! Avon will take treats from your hand and the more the better!

Toys- watching Avon play with her toys is my favorite activity of the day! I sit by the bucket of toys and hand them to her 1 at a time. She takes them and puts them in a pile further away. I save her favorite ones for last so she'll keeping playing with them. If all 4 dogs are there she will always be the first to come get a toy.

Potty Training- She's doing great with potty training. When she arrived the temperatures were bitter cold outside so we started her on a potty mat inside. She was using that like a pro in no time! I even changed where I put the mat a few times while I figured out the best overall layout and she always knew where to go. We've transitioned to going outside and she's doing very well but still has a pee pad inside as a back up.

Companion Dog- Avon would prefer to be in a home with another small dog. She is currently in a foster home with Lyra, a miniature poodle. Avon and Lyra were not kennel mates at the rescue but as soon as we got home, Avon immediately took to Lyra as if they have been best friends for years. If you pick up Lyra, Avon will be by your side making sure Lyra is ok. She acts like a mother figure and I anticipate she will make a similar bond with another small dog. Avon is very content with the 2 larger dogs in the house but is not as interested in them.

Steps- Until we complete our final phase of potty training, she has limited access to a flight of steps (6+ steps in a row). She can easily go up but she is hesitant to go down. If it's just 1-3 steps such as a front step or on a deck, she can easily do those.

Kids- Avon is still a bit skittish with loud sudden noises or new situations. A child that wants to hold her, or play loudly near her would not be ideal for Avon.

Avon has the sweetest disposition, very easy going and very easy to care for.

See more on her facebook page: Lake Life Foster Friends.

Fostered in West Bend.

ADOPTION FEE: $650

To adopt the FIRST STEP is to complete an APPLICATION.

Adopters must be 24 years of age.
