Autumn's Story

We would love to introduce you to Autumn, our 4-ish year old Australian shepherd gal who is in foster care! Autumn's foster family calls her a "sweet potato" since she is affectionate, sweet, and a little bit potato shaped. Autumn needs to lose some weight but does appreciate a leisurely walk!

Autumn was found as a stray and was definitely excited to get into a house when she entered foster care. She quickly showed that she is both crate and house trained, knows some commands, and is good with other dogs. One of the dogs in her foster home is deaf and can't hear her signals when she tries to tell him she's not interested in being endlessly sniffed, but she is 100% appropriate in her dog communication! Her foster home also includes a toddler who is used to dogs. Autumn tolerates him, but would probably love older kids or visiting grandkids - she's a sedate, relaxed lady and appreciates low key energy. On the flip side, she is a big fan of having a kid around who shares cheese with her.

Autumn is good in the car, fine being groomed (she needed some serious cleaning up when she left animal control!), behaves at the vet, and just wants to lay at your feet. All the love you give to Autumn, she will gladly give it back. Sometimes when her foster mom is working, Autumn will place a dainty paw on her lap to see if she wants a break from typing and would like to pet a dog. So far, Autumn has been right 100% of the time.

We don't know what happened to Autumn previously and she took a couple of days to really feel safe in foster care. This is not a girl who wants to be lost, ever again, and we are sure that whoever adopts her would never let that happen. We are very excited to see her find a family where she will be cherished and loved forever!
