Darby is a one year old old pit bull/boxer/cattle dog mix. She came to UU as a stray with three brothers, who have all been adopted. They were found running together in a pack trying to survive off the land without proper food or water.

Since being in our care, we are finding that Darby enjoys going for car rides, playing with squeaky toys and using your lap as a headrest. Darby is eager to learn, quick to pick up on things and is ready to train. She does well with male dogs, and children. We are unsure how she is with cats, and may be selective towards female dogs. Darby would need a house with bigger dogs with a play style similar to hers, which is go, go, go. A home with smaller dogs would not be a good fit because she does not recognize her size and just wants to play. She loves to burn off energy in her fosters fenced in back yard and gets the zoomies all the time.

She has displayed one episode of resource guarding in her three months at her current home, so that will need to be monitored. She may also have some separation anxiety but if worked with or if she finds a friend her size, it could be manageable.

Darby has been working hard on her manners so if kept up, she will make the perfect pal!

Dated 02/22/23
