Auggie's Story

Pet Location: Wayside’s Canine Behavior Center – I'd love to show off all the cool things I’ve learned at Wayside! Please arrive at the shelter before 4pm on our open adoption days to meet me!

My Friends at Wayside say:
- I am enrolled in Confidence College. This is a program for dogs to build confidence and learn that the world is not so scary. My adoption comes with a free 30-minute private training session.
- I am from a hoarding situation. I will likely need extra time to adjust to home life. I have lived with other dogs but have not socialized with many people. Things like walking on a leash and going through doorways can be challenging for me. Adopting me will be extremely rewarding, but I need time to learn.
- New people and things make me a little nervous. Let’s take things slow!
- Once I warm up, I just want to hang out with my people, play with some toys, and enjoy some snacks!
- Balls, squeaky toys, rope toys, I love them all!
- I am eligible for a Slumber Pawty, a 7-10 day in-home trial period. Please visit our website for additional information.

My home needs are:
- I need a home without other dogs - I prefer having your attention all to myself!
- I need a home with kids 6 years old and older since I tend to be nervous around new people and loud noises.
- If you have kids in the home aged 6-9, I will need to meet them since I can be nervous around new people and loud noises.
- Wayside recommends no apartments or shared living spaces for me. I like to use my voice when I am excited.
- For my safety, I need to go home on an anti-slip collar called a martingale collar. For your convenience, we sell them in our retail store, Whiskers and Wags.

Check out my super cool new video! Scroll through my photos to watch it.

Hi, I’m Auggie!

I’m a 6-year-old lab mix who’s still learning that the world can be a safe and happy place. I came from a hoarding situation, so new people can make me a little nervous at first. Because of that, I’m looking for someone patient and understanding who will give me the time I need to feel comfortable. The good news? I’m enrolled in Confidence College and working hard on building my bravery every day!

Once I warm up, you’ll see a whole different side of me. I love hanging out with my people, soaking up pets, enjoying tasty snacks, and just being part of your world. I’m also a huge toy fan... seriously... I love ALL toys! I’ll happily bounce around, play, and entertain myself, especially when I’m feeling happy and comfortable.

I’m a big fan of walks too, especially when I can take my time and sniff all the sights and smells around me. It’s one of my favorite ways to explore and relax. And when the day winds down? That’s when my cuddly side really comes out. Once I trust you, I’m a total snuggler who just wants to be close to my favorite people.

I’d do best as your one-and-only pup (no other dogs for me), and I’m looking for a home that isn’t an apartment, where I can have a little more space to feel comfortable and be myself. Overall, my favorite things in life are simple: toys, food, and love from my people. If you’re willing to be patient and let me come out of my shell at my own pace, I promise you’ll be rewarded with a sweet, playful, and incredibly loyal companion.

I can’t wait to meet you and start building that special bond together.
Love, Auggie
