Auggie's Story

Auggie is about 9-10 months old, 40-45lbs and like any puppy, Auggie loves to play with other pups. He usually plays with other males in the home as well as all his younger fur foster dog siblings around his age…. really he just wants to play with anyone that will play with him.

As a more reserved dog, who came to HERO untrusting of people after being dumped at a kill shelter, we believe Auggie’s best family match would be one that wants to give him a lot of love and acknowledgement. One that can be dedicated to growing his confidence with positive reinforcement, rewards and training.

Auggie is a follower, not a leader, so when a dog is upset with him, he is quick to submit. We do believe Auggie could come around to being an only dog with a family that has plenty of time to share with him, but as a follower, he may come around faster in a home with a dog he can learn from.

Auggie is house trained with a doggy door and loves to spend time in a crate, but he usually prefers a crate with another dog in it for comfort.

Auggie does live with cats, but has not been in close quarters for extended periods of time, so we are not sure if he is cat friendly. His low-key demeanor makes us think he would be good with a dog savvy cat.

Auggie’s mother was a blue tick hound, so we know he is part hound. He is neutered, heatworm negative and up to date on vaccinations.

If interested in Auggie or any of the HERO Hounds, please apply at HeroHounds.org/adopt
