Atticus's Story

FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED
Meet Atticus!

Atticus is a 2-year-old, 51 LB Berger Picard/Briard mix — yes, you read that right, fifty-one pounds! Though he may look like a scruffy little terrier in photos, Atticus is actually a medium-sized herding dog with the brains, energy, and drive to match!

True to his breed mix, Atticus is active, bouncy, and intelligent. He can be very sweet and affectionate, but he thrives when he has a job to do and clear direction from his handler. This boy will need an adopter with herding or working breed experience who understands his needs and can provide him with the structure, leadership, and mental and physical stimulation he requires. Without that, his herding instincts can come out in the form of nipping or redirecting frustration onto his handler.

Atticus would do best in a more rural or suburban home, away from the noise and chaos of city life. A standalone home with a securely fenced yard is a must — no apartments or condos for this active boy. He has done well with some other dogs, but he will need slow introductions and an experienced handler to guide him. We recommend an adult-only home for him and no cats.

With the right match, Atticus will be an amazing partner — energetic, fun, loyal, and incredibly rewarding to work with!

Atticus is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $450.
