Atticus's Story
FOSTERED IN PENSACOLA
6FT FENCE REQUIRED

Meet Atticus! At 2 years old, Atticus is that magical Great Dane of youthful goofball and tender-hearted old soul. He is deeply devoted to his people and fully committed to the Velcro lifestyle — if you’re moving, he’s coming too. Privacy is overrated anyway.

Atticus is great with kids and absolutely loves the attention, but because excitement + Great Dane = accidental bulldozer, a home with older kids is the best fit. He also enjoys the company of other dogs and fits right in with his foster siblings.

Cats? Yes — with a proper introduction! Atticus may be curious at first (those “knife mitten” creatures are fascinating), but once he understands the rules, he’s perfectly capable of peaceful cohabitation.

He’s proven himself to be a trustworthy house guy and does well with free roam for a few hours at a time. Crates aren’t really his vibe, but he has recently discovered the luxury of an actual dog bed and takes his comfort very seriously. Once settled, he sleeps like a professional.

On leash, Atticus is a dream — no pulling, no drama. He’s working on his basic commands and is eager to learn, especially if snacks are involved. Thunderstorms don’t bother him, and he’s currently perfecting important life skills like fetch and tug-of-war (the rules are… flexible).

Like many dogs adjusting to new places, Atticus needed a little time to settle in at first. Translation: he really, really loves his people and just wants to make sure he’s included in all adventures — even the trip to the mailbox. Because of this, a secure 6-foot fence is required, but as he continues to feel safe and settled, this behavior keeps improving.

Atticus would thrive in a home with another dog or humans who are around often. In return, he promises endless affection, loyal companionship, and a lifetime supply of soulful Dane stares and belly rub requests.

Atticus is neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. He is being treated for heartworms using the slow-kill method (Doxycycline and ProHeart 12). His adoption fee is $400.

To apply to adopt, please visit www.nwflgdr.com/adopt and review the requirements before submitting an application.

Please note: NWFLGDR does not transport. All approved adopters must pick up Atticus in person from his foster home.
