Atticus's Story

Meet Atticus

Don't let Atticus' kennel bark fool you. There's a big ol' softie hiding behind it!

When Atticus first arrived, the shelter was a pretty scary place for him. When he's nervous or notices something, he has a wonderfully deep "I'm on duty!" bark. But when he's excited and ready to play, that big bark turns into the funniest, happiest little high-pitched bark.

And once Atticus knows you? Game over. He's a snuggler, a people-dog, and absolutely convinced he belongs in your lap. He wants to be wherever his people are and is happiest when he can hang out right alongside you.

Atticus is already off to a great start with his manners. He knows sit, walks well on leash, rides nicely in the car, and is both house-trained and crate-trained. He may whine for a bit when crated, but he settles down quickly. He's also highly motivated by treats and loves soft toys.

Dog friends? Absolutely! Atticus loves playing in the yard with other dogs. He'll wrestle with some and happily hang out with others. Cats and kids are currently unknown, so we recommend letting him meet new people, places, and experiences slowly and at his own pace.

One important thing: please ask to meet Atticus in the yard. That's where you'll get to see the real Atticus come out of his shell.

Atticus is neutered, vaccinated, and ready for his furever home. If you're looking for a loyal companion who wants nothing more than to be part of your life, come meet this big-barked, soft-hearted lap dog.
