VIP: Athena is a sweet dog who is about 20 months of age. She went on a group dog walk recently with other dogs at the shelter. Athena was very calm on the walk, and wasn't bothered by the other dogs on the walk. She walked well on the leash, and rode well in the back seat of the truck. She knows "sit" and "stay" and she likes to lean on her person. Athena likes belly rubs, and likes to be cuddled. Athena did great with the other dogs, even the tiny chihuahua that was with the group. <br/>Adopted animals are not able to go to their new home until spay and neuter surgery has been done. <br/>Adoptions are first come first serve, and no appointment or application is needed. Plano Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy

Adoptions are first come first serve. There is no application. Anyone over 18 years of age is eligible to adopt provided that they meet the adoption criteria for that specific animal. Criteria can range from having basic knowledge of the animal’s species or breed, having an established veterinary history, not having young children, the animal being legal to own in the city they live in, the breed they’re interested in being accepted at their apartments, etc. If a potential adopter doesn’t meet the criteria in place for that animal, they will be encouraged to look at other animals that may not have those restrictions in place. The criteria must also be met in order to visit with an animal.
