Hi, I'm Athena, a 72-pound Terrier mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart! Once I get to know you, I'm an affectionate, playful girl who loves spending time with my people. When we first meet, though, I can be a little nervous and easily spooked, so I appreciate calm introductions where everyone stays seated and lets me come to them when I'm ready. A few tasty treats certainly help win me over since I'm a big foodie, and if you toss me a tennis ball, you'll really start to see my fun-loving side come to life. Fetch is one of my favorite games, and it's a great way to help me build trust and confidence. <br/><br/>Once I'm comfortable, I'm all about having fun and sharing my love, although I can get a little rowdy during playtime and tend to use my paws quite a bit. I'll benefit from continued training to help polish my manners and learn appropriate play skills. I'd also like to meet everyone in my future home before adoption so we can all get to know each other and start off on the right paw. I'll be happiest as the only dog in the home, where I can soak up all the love and attention for myself. If you're patient, understanding, and willing to give me the time I need to blossom, I promise to reward you with endless affection, loyalty, and lots of happy games of fetch!<br/><br/>My adoption fee of $225+tax covers the cost of my care and stay here at the humane society.<br/><br/>All Pennington County residents must also pay an additional $8 licensing fee at time of adoption.
