Astro's Story
There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Astro, at only 14 weeks old and about 7 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 10-12 lbs), was facing the end of his life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Astro just in time. Astro is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of his temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. He's also incredibly beautiful...with the purest of white and a striking caramel that have come out since he received a good, sudsy bath after his release from the shelter. We'll post a photo of the clean and gorgeous Astro just as soon as we get one. Astro is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's so smart...very typical of the cross of a Schnauzer and a Jack. He's bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of his scary start. Since Astro is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - he would form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs & humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Socialization Class followed by group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior. We're open to Astro finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Astro loves children as well but we would prefer to place him in a home with older kids that can participate in a gentle yet consistent training regiment. Astro will be up to date on his vetting/neutering to be in line with our commitment to healthy and well-balanced puppies.
Astro is an adorable combination of a shedding and a non-shedding breed... he doesn't appear to shed at this point but due to his young age, we don't feel we can guarantee his suitability for an individual with allergy challenges.
Astro will be arriving on transport in Denver on 5/23. We are currently accepting applications for this sweet and super-loving puppy.
