THE LINK TO OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION IS LOCATED AT THE END OF THIS LISTING*

Meet Amazing Astrid-Washington, an almost 2 year old female Mini Bernedoodle, who is in an IDOG foster home in Seattle, Washington.

*Please read ALL the information in Astrid's listing before applying to ensure you understand what she needs to be successful in her new home.

*If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for Astrid, please complete our adoption application at http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application(copy/paste URL into your browser).

*If you completed an adoption application in the last 6 months and would like for your application to be considered for Astrid, please email that to us to rescue@idogdoodlerescue.org.

*You must complete our adoption application fully. We will review your application & email you if you made our short list of applicants for Astrid. Please respond within 24 hours if you receive an email from us about making our short list.

*You can check the status of her adoption at www.doodles.petfinder.com or any of our social media pages. We will change her status to adopted when she is adopted.

*We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety and welfare of our dogs. We are all volunteers and have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog.

*You must be approved to adopt Astrid-WA before we schedule a meet and greet. We do not transport our dogs.

*AGE: almost 2 years old (born February 2024)

*WEIGHT: 22 lbs.

*FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical enclosed fence and yard are required. No electronic fences or invisible fences will be allowed as we do not think these would set her up for success in her new home.

*COAT TYPE: Wavy, low-shedding coat. She will need regular brushing and grooming. You should be prepared to have her groomed regularly (every 8-10 weeks) with an estimated cost of $150+/groom.

*ENERGY LEVEL: Astrid is a great mix of puppy energy and cuddles. She has several spurts of high puppy energy, but then quickly settles down after her play time.

*DOGS: Nervous at first but likes other dogs generally. She was a bit cautious with her slightly larger and more energetic foster brother Labradoodle and obsessed with her Yorkie foster sister who she followed around pestering to play even though the Yorkie was not into it!

*CATS: Unknown she has had no exposure to cats in her foster home or prior home.

*KIDS: ages 9+. She loves to play but she is a jumper and can be a mouthy puppy.

*CAR: She’s a bit nervous but does well in a crate and in the back seat with a seat belt and harness on.

*CRATE: She will go into her crate without fuss; it's her safe place and she enjoys being in it.

*HOUSE TRAINED: For the most part yes, but she has had a few accidents in her foster home. Her new family should be patient and prepared for her to have accidents as she transitions to her new home. With stability I think she would be fine.

*LEASH: She does well on a harness; she pulls a bit but isn't very forceful about it. Doesn't seem to react to dogs and likes to try to chase squirrels.

*AT THE VET: Curious but cautious. She tends to be slightly anxious overall in new places and around new people.

*WITH GROOMING: She was well taken care of and the previous owners said she was groomed regularly. She let the foster mom brush her with little fuss; she just wanted to smell and lick the comb.

Here is what Astrid’s foster family has to say about her:

Astrid is a gorgeous female Mini Bernedoodle who is in a foster home in Seattle, WA. She was born in February 2024 so is 19 months old. She weighs 22 lbs.

Astrid was surrendered to IDOG by her family who loved her very much; the owner was having serious health issues and asked for IDOG's assistance in rehoming her.

Astrid's ideal home for success is a house where she is not left alone for long periods of time because she is a Velcro dog and LOVES to be around her people and does appear to have some separation anxiety in which she vocalizes.

She needs an active family and a big yard to play in. She’d do great with a furry sibling, but she is also great just playing by herself or with human siblings ages 9+. She loves to learn and is highly intelligent, so a family who would continue her training is ideal.

Astrid's favorite activity is a nice long walk with lots of things to sniff! She has a lot of energy, so she needs an active family who can walk her daily. She’d love a sibling, dog or human, and seems to trust elementary age children 9+ more quickly than adults. She seems nervous around younger kids when we see them in the park so she won't be a good fit for a family with very young children.

At her foster home, Astrid has been crated for 4 hours before and did great! She has only been left alone at her foster home a few times, and she has been crated each time. She vocalizes and is very excited to be released from the crate.

She is nervous and anxious upon meeting new people, dogs and being in new situations but tends to warm up quickly if given space. She is very jumpy and barks when there are loud noises or someone enters the room but she tends to calm down quickly. She does bark at random sounds and will grumble and growl when she thinks something fishy is going on even though everything is normal and tends to whine quite a bit around the house due to anxiety.

Astrid likes to jump on you to say hi and she is sometimes mouthy (not in an aggressive way but in an over-excited way). For this reason we do not feel she will be successful in a home with small children under 9.

Astrid is cuddly, entertaining, eager to please and is treat motivated! She is a real gem who will brighten anyone’s day! Her smile shines bright especially when she knows it's time to go for a walk! She would love a fenced-in yard as she loves her zoomies and sunbathing!

Adjectives that describe Astrid:
*Cuddly
*Entertaining
*Food motivated
*Nervous
*Easily Overwhelmed
*Snuggly
*Affectionate
*Sweet
*Fun
*Playful
*Velcro dog

Activities she enjoys:
*nice long walks with lots of sniffing
*fetch (only when other dogs are chasing the ball)
*chew toys with snacks in them
*cuddling
*playing with other smaller dogs

Some things she needs to work on:
-She will paw for more pets
-She will bark when there is a knock at the door or someone enters the room when its quiet
-Vocalizes when left home alone in her crate
-She jumps when overly excited
-She is anxious about new things
-She can pull on leash

Astrid is spayed, current on core vaccines and is crate and house-trained. She had a negative heartworm and negative fecal test.

ADOPTION FEE: $600 adoption fee

ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION:
Our adoption fees are non-refundable. Puppies and highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting and expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board and train costs, medical/health issues and surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees and our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues.

TO APPLY FOR Astrid-Washington, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application
