Aspen's Story

Aspen's Story

Aspen came into our care for the first time on 4/24/25 as an owner surrender due to too many intact dogs in the home. Through no fault of his own, his journey has been anything but stable.

He was adopted on 7/12/25, only to be returned about 30 days later on 8/14/25 for being too much for his family. Aspen tried again. He found another home on 10/17/25... and then our hearts broke all over again when he was later picked up as a stray after being rehomed, which goes against our adoption contract. Our adoption agreement exists to protect our animals and ensure their safety. If an adopter is ever unable to keep an animal, we ask that they are returned to us so we can properly support them and help find a new, appropriate home.

When one of our dog coordinators picked him up, Aspen didn't hesitate. He wrapped himself around her, buried his head into her neck, and hugged her, like he finally felt safe seeing a familiar face. That moment said everything.

This boy is so sweet. He is exhausted from bouncing between homes and shelter life. Aspen doesn't want to be failed again. He wants what every dog deserves... a forever home of his own.

Aspen has severe kennel stress, which is heartbreaking but not surprising. He is a German Shepherd / Husky / Lab mix, smart, energetic, emotional, and deeply bonded to his people. He is exactly what his breeds are known to be and requires both physical and mental stimulation to truly thrive. Without it, the kennel environment is especially hard on him. He needs an active, committed family who understands his needs and is willing to meet them.

An ideal home for Aspen would be an energetic individual or couple with a fenced, private backyard, no cats, and the time and commitment to give him the structure, enrichment, and love he needs.

If you are willing to commit, to be patient, to keep him forever, please apply. Aspen is ready to give his whole heart... he just needs someone who won't give up on him.
