Asiago's Story

Asiago had a hard time before he came to us. He was one of a group of dogs who ended up in the San Bernardino shelter (we previously took another one, Lily, who is available). The shelter named a few of them after cheeses, including Cheddar and Parmesan; thus, the name Asiago. He spent 2 and a half months in the shelter, the last of the group still there. Recently, another dog attacked Asiago in the kennel at the shelter. He has recovered but still has some fur growing back on the right side of his head where the shelter treated him. While in the medical unit, Asiago landed on the euthanasia list for a long stay. Because we spotted him before, we pulled Asiago and brought him north into our rescue.

Asiago is estimated at over 2 years old. He weighs around 30 pounds but could stand to gain a couple. He is tri-colored, with the rare one blue eye and one brown eye. The shelter put him as a beagle mix. We think he may be mixed with at least a couple things.

This handsome guy is a gentle and nice dog. Asiago may take a bit to become familiar and comfortable, but then he is sweet and friendly. He likes to be near where someone is, but not necessarily a lapdog yet. He likes sleeping on the bed. He is well-behaved and does well in the house without accidents. He rides well in the car, is good with other dogs and cats (see video of playdate), and is good with kids. Asiago also does fine on the leash. Last but not least, he likes tummy rubs!

Asiago has decompressed quickly and made a lot of progress after a long shelter stay. He will be a great dog and good friend to someone now that he has the chance. If interested in Asiago, please contact Eva.

Contact Eva at 916-803-4935 or norcalbeagles@gmail.com.
