Asha's Story

Apply to Adopt Me!

Asha is a 2yo, 56lb. possible pittie/boxer/lab mix, with a sleek black coat, white chest, white around her muzzle and four white paws. She was recently saved from euthanasia at the shelter. She had a GI foreign body that looked like a round cylinder on x-rays. Once out of the shelter and safely with rescue, she had surgery and turns out the foreign body in her stomach was a small billiard ball. She has bounced back so well after surgery and is in wonderful spirits. She is such a goofy girl and so happy - her tail is constantly wagging. She LOVES to cuddle and snuggle with her person. She is house trained, good with medium or large dogs (she hasn’t been tested with small dogs) but is not good with cats. She walks well on leash (although she would love to give chase to a squirrel), rides great in the car, sleeps through the night, is learning sit and is treat motivated, taking treats gently. She just loves to be loved on and is so sweet. She hasn't been around kids while with our rescue, but we believe she would do fine with older kids only due to her size and exuberance. She is underweight but has already started gaining some weight with proper nutrition. She is not a big barker. She is not destructive, loves chasing a tennis ball, and ignores things that aren't hers to chew on. We don’t know what her past was like, but we know her future will be much better. Asha is heartworm positive at this time, and is on the rescue's slow kill protocol, which we can explain that process to any interested applicant. She can enjoy regular activities. Heart worm disease is contracted from an infected mosquito and can not be transmitted to another dog. We are requiring either a fenced-in yard for her or someone who can be active with her with a couple of walks a day. She enjoys sunning for short periods, but prefers to be outside only if her person is outside with her. She's a huge people dog. Her adoption fee is sponsored. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you have the perfect home for Asha, please complete an application and tell us more about your family.
