Artie's Story

Here is Artie, a sweet Feist mix who is only 1 year old and fully grown at 24 pounds. He's very, very sweet and smart and is great with dogs. He is a wonderful boy exuding kindness. He can be a little timid at first but warms up given a few minutes to say hello and hopefully get some treats. We think he'd do best in a suburban home with a fenced in yard because he loves to sunbathe in the backyard and play with other pups. He's healthy, up to date on all his vaccinations and so ready for his forever home. Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) to get lots more info on this great pup!

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes.   What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
