Arti

Arti is a (small - approx 80#) purebred Bull Mastiff, estimated at 3-4 years old. She originally came to animal services from somebody fleeing a domestic violence situation who needed to get Arti to safety. She had been living in a crate of her own waste, was 20# underweight, filthy, and had pressure sores on her hips and other joints. <br/><br/>Once healthy, Arti was adopted by one of our volunteers. Unfortunately, only a few months after her adoption, the adopter passed away - the family now wants to find a more active, appropriate match for her, as her current canine siblings are all seniors and her remaining human family works long hours. <br/><br/>Arti is fabulous with other dogs, and we would love to find her a home with at least one other playful canine companion. She has not lived with cats, but we feel she would likely do best in a home without. She is a bit unusual for a mastiff, as she doesn't know a stranger and hasn't shown guardian breed tendencies in the home, aside from her duty of patrolling her yard to keep it safe from rogue squirrels and stray cats. She is housebroken when kept on a schedule, and crates well. She is current on all vetting, and her only remaining medical concern is some occasional itchy skin/seasonal allergies. She loves toys (and will play tug with another dog over a stuffie for as long as it lasts!) and any type of chew bones, and has not shown any resource guarding around her canine housemates. She should do fine with kids 8 and older who are too big for her to knock over in her exuberance. <br/><br/>Arti currently resides in Bay City, MI and will havea $100 rehoming fee.
