Arthur's Story

Name: Arthur
Breed: Pug Mix
Sex: Neutered Male
Age: 12 years
Weight: 18 lbs
Animal Number: 4671

Chill, Calm, Quiet, Shy, Cuddly - Has Medical Needs

Good with dogs? Yes, Arthur lives with four other dogs, and lived with many, many dogs before. He is generally calm around other dogs and will cuddle and relax with other calm dogs of all sizes, from tiny to giant. He does not play very much.

Good with cats? Not Tested

Good with kids? Not Tested, but he would prefer a home with older, calm children who respect his boundaries.

Energy level: Low. Arthur likes to nap and snuggle with other dogs or his people, and will also nap independently. He is not really one for exercise and likes to be in his house more than outside. He has not yet played with any toys.

Medical needs: Arthur lost the majority of his teeth before coming to PawsCo’s care, and upon oral exam, was found to need the remaining teeth extracted as well. He is now a toothless boy, who is finally living a life without constant oral pain.

Arthur has a grade 2/6 heart murmur that was discovered while in PawsCo’s care. An echocardiogram is recommended to learn more about this condition, as well as prior to any future anesthetic events, but his adopter should follow up with their primary veterinarian for further recommendations.

Arthur was diagnosed with Grade 3 luxating patellas while in PawsCo’s care. It has been deemed that with the grade/severity of his condition, surgery is not a viable option. He has begun taking Cosequin, a joint supplement, and should be monitored for any signs of pain. He may eventually need to take a daily anti-inflammatory medication, but his adopter should follow up with their primary veterinarian for further recommendations.

Arthur was found to have corneal scarring in both eyes, with the left being more severe. He does have at least some vision. No treatment is recommended at this time. His adopter should follow up with their primary veterinarian for further recommendations.

Animal Characteristics: Arthur is a very chill, calm, quiet, shy, cuddy little pup. He was rescued from a hoarding situation with over 50 dogs, has lived exclusively indoors, and is working on acclimation to the wonderful world outside. He is nervous about the outdoors and about walking on a leash, and is very comfy cozy in his home, sometimes under a sofa when new people come to visit. He only barks when he meets new people. He is cuddly once he feels safe and will be happy by your side on the sofa or bed. Arthur is sweet, shy and undersocialized, takes time to warm up to any new situation, and needs a patient adopter who can give him time to relax while providing basic training. He is working on potty training and goes in a consistent place, is good at riding in a car, and does not need to be crated since he’s peaceful at home. Arthur is a little sweetheart who is ready for a second chance at a happy retirement.

Please learn more about the adoption process and fill out an application at www.pawsco.org/adopt/adoption-process. My adoption fee is $300. You can also contact my friends at PawsCo at adopt@pawscoadoptions.org if you have questions. I look forward to meeting you!
