Arthur's Story
Meet Arthur!

Arthur is a sweet, thoughtful 4-year-old boy with a gentle soul and a big heart just waiting for the right person to earn it. He can be shy when first meeting new people, but if you respect his boundaries and give him a little space, Arthur will do the brave thing and come to you on his own terms. And once he feels safe? You’ve got a best friend for life.

When Arthur settles in, he is affectionate, playful, and incredibly loving. He enjoys pets, cuddles, and—no surprise—food! He’s a smart and curious boy who takes in the world carefully. Even when he gets excited around his favorite people, he’s gentle and makes an effort to keep all four paws on the ground.

Arthur can be nervous around some men and is afraid of sticks, so a patient, understanding home will help him continue building confidence. He does know what he loves, though: rope toys, balls, cozy cuddles, and romping around in the snow.

Arthur just completed a three-week board and train program with Playtime Pet Resort trainer Harmonie, where he worked on building confidence, leash manners, and basic obedience commands he’ll need to thrive in his new life.

Arthur would do best with someone who understands that trust is earned—and that the reward for that patience is a truly special dog. If you’re looking for a gentle, loyal companion who will blossom with love and consistency, Arthur may be the one for you.

Since we do not have any history of Arthur living with kids, we will not place him with children under 16. He will be neutered prior to adoption. He weighed 96 lbs. when rescued and was underweight, so he will be over 100 lbs. when he reaches a good weight. He was neutered and updated on vet care on 2/12 and is now ready for adoption.

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an adoption application here: medfieldshelter.com/adopt

If a dog is listed on our website, it is still available for adoption; however, there may be applications ahead of yours. We typically receive many applications for every dog we post. All adoption meetings are by appointment.

Our dog adoption fee is $450 for dogs aged seven months to seven years old, and $250 for dogs aged eight years and older. Every dog we place receives age-appropriate vaccines, is treated for worms, ticks, and fleas, tested for heartworm, microchipped, and spayed or neutered before adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash. Please fill out the adoption application if you would like to be considered for a dog in our care.

With few exceptions, dogs are happiest and well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families willing to commit to both.
