Arlo (Neutered) (Photos 12/7/2024) [Bonded Pair w/Steven]

Arlo is a handsome 3-year old male Yellow Labrador Retriever who was brought to the HSOV on December 6, 2024 by a Good Samaritan who found him on Echo Valley Road in the Waterford Ohio area. Arlo was accompanied by his best friend Steven (an adult American Staffordshire Terrier) who is also in our shelter. Neither of these boys were wearing a collar, and they were not microchipped.<br/><br/>Arlo has a yellow/tan short smooth coat, a long tail, and a beautiful face with dark brown eyes, a chocolate brown nose, and large floppy ears which frame his face.<br/><br/>This sweet boy appears to have a gentle, easygoing personality and enjoys attention and being petted by our kennel techs. His best friend (Steven) is a very frightened boy who shows his fear by barking loud and fast when anyone approaches him or makes eye contact. Our kennel techs are still doing their best to gain Steven's trust since he isn't sure who he can trust. We have kept Arlo with Steven in their own 'bachelor's pad' where they have the freedom of not being in a kennel. Interestingly, Arlo enjoys being petted and when Steven sees Arlo getting pets .. then Steven wants them as well.<br/><br/>Neither Arlo nor Steven accepts cats into their circle of friends and cannot be trusted to be nice to them.<br/><br/>Arlo is a rather large boy who weighs 76 lbs. <br/><br/>These photos were taken on December 7th 'through the looking glass' (the panes of glass on the door to the boys' apartment) since Steven wasn't quite ready to walk on a leash for outdoor photos and we didn't want to separate the boys by taking Arlo out for pictures. One (or both) of the boys had been licking the glass or putting their paws on the panes, so several of their photos are blurry for that reason (smile).<br/><br/>In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Arlo and Steven will be held for three days so that their family will have an opportunity to reclaim them with proof of ownership.<br/><br/>Update: Arlo was neutered on June 10, 2025 and was also given rabies vaccine.
