Ares's Story
Meet Ares!

Ares is a 9-10 y/o Staffie (possibly Lab) mix that suffered from chronic ear infections that were not well cared for. His previous owners wanted to euthanize him but his veterinarian reached out to us with a plea for placement of this AMAZING boy. Since being in foster care, his ears have cleared up and have remained in good condition.

Ares is a great family dog. So loving and gentle. Absolutely adores children of all ages. He is good with cats. However, he does not like small dogs, male dogs or any unfamiliar dogs. He does not do well with livestock or rodents. Large breed. chill, female dogs are more to his liking.

He does great on walks, although he can pull at times. He is easily corrected and listens very well. He knows basic tricks and is food driven. He loves to chew on bones and is extremely gentle when taking food from your fingers. He gets playful when excited and has been known to destroy a ball or two within no time. He definitely appears much younger than he is! Ares has a beautiful coat of fur that lightens in the summertime to an ashy brown. He will need forever maintenance for his ears with a veterinarian, but we have found the condition to be very manageable. He is a free roam dog within the home and does not chew anything he’s not supposed to. He can be trusted to not potty in the house for several hours. He is a cuddle bug but also a bed hog when he’s in bed with you. He is kennel trained and sleeps well when crated at night. This boy also loves car rides!! LOVES car rides! In fact, so much so that if you have your car door open for any reason, he will run to climb inside and then wait expectantly… Ares would make a wonderful travel companion, road trip buddy or truck driver copilot!

He is also very vocal when he wants your attention and can be quite the drama king. He likes to talk to you and will give you the side eye and exaggerated sigh for dramatic effect. He is a good alert dog, but also recognizes known people and learns quickly.

Please, only apply if you can give Ares a fur-ever home, as this young fellow deserves to live out his remaining years with no more heartbreak.

If you are interested in adopting Ares, you must fill out an application first. You can go to www.LAFPOGCW.org to complete one, or message us here and we will email you a copy.

You must fill out and submit an application to even be considered for a meet and greet. We do require references. Thank you!

https://www.lafpogcw.org/application/
