Archie's Story

Archie is a very sweet, handsome two year-old Weimaraner who came into our rescue program after suffering a life-threatening, postoperative hemorrhage. His original family had taken him to a veterinarian in Mexico, who performed surgery to remove a lump on the side of his chest. Archie was discharged from this veterinary hospital after the surgery but, within a few hours, developed an unstoppable hemorrhage from the surgery site. His family took him to an emergency veterinary hospital where he had additional treatment, but ultimately had to surrender him to one of our partner animal shelters. The shelter contacted TPWR and Archie entered our rescue program.

Archie has fully recovered from this hardship and is thriving with the four other Weimaraners in his foster home. He loves to play (especially ball) and is an energetic pup that still has to learn some boundaries as well as how to walk well on a leash. As is common for Weimaraners, Archie shows signs of separation anxiety that his foster family is working on, but because of this he is looking for a forever family that can spend a lot of time with him.

Archie will do best in an adoptive home where his family can dedicate their time to being with him, exercise him regularly, and provide daily structure and enrichment through training and play. He does well with other dogs.

If you are interested in learning more about Archie, please send us an email at contact@weimaranerrescue.org and we will be happy to share more about this deserving boy.
