Archie's Story
Meet Archie!

Archie is a 5-year-old full-blooded Australian Shepherd who has spent his entire life with one family. Coming to the shelter has been a huge change for him, and he is understandably confused and missing the people and home he knew.

Archie is looking for a quiet, adult-only home with minimal traffic where he can settle in at his own pace and feel secure again. He has done well with the other dogs here at the shelter, though we do not yet know how he feels about cats.

One thing we do know for sure: Archie LOVES water. His favorite part of shelter life is splashing around in his kiddie pool, and he would probably be very happy in a home where water play can continue to be part of his routine.

He also does great for the groomer, which is definitely a bonus for an Australian Shepherd with that beautiful coat who will require regular grooming.

Archie is not looking for a busy household or a constant stream of visitors. He needs a calm, predictable home with adults who understand that losing everything familiar can be overwhelming and who are willing to give him the time and space he needs to settle in. No children for this handsome guy.

For the right home, Archie has the chance to trade confusion and uncertainty for something familiar again: safety, routine, and people of his own. He is fully housetrained, but settling into a new routine can sometimes require a little time to adjust.

His adoption fee is $200 and he comes neutered, current on yearly vaccines, heartworm tested negative, and microchipped.

To apply, visit our website at EffinghamCountyHumaneSociety.org
