Archie's Story
Archie is a charming blue merle Dachshund, just one year old and weighing in at 17 lbs.

A young boy full of life who is always up for a walk or ball game, he will need an active adoptive home where he will receive the attention he craves and exercise he needs. He would suit a single person, couple or family with responsible, dog experienced, children.

Archie’s foster dad describes him as a special boy, very intelligent and trainable, but will need a firm, consistent hand as he gets exuberant and doesn’t realize he may be playing a little rough. He enjoys toys and will use his teeth and claws to dismantle a toy in minutes (we recommend indestructible toys like a Kong and racquet ball). His foster dad also uses a tennis ball inside a sock.

A good eater with a healthy appetite, he sleeps in his foster’s bed under the covers and understands that when the lights go out it’s time to sleep (he sleeps soundly through the night). He readily jumps into the car and rides nicely. He is currently walked three times a day and if he sees a rabbit or squirrel hold on tight to the leash!

Archie takes a little while to warm to new people and will cautiously approach them, with hackles raised, and bark (he’s not a bite risk). He quickly became comfortable around his foster dad’s daughter and girlfriend and his affectionate nature now shines through.

Archie’s foster dad tells us he is the sweetest dog. He gives lots of kisses and loves to snuggle and have his belly and neck rubbed. He will bond with his new person and would prefer a home where he is not left home alone for long periods of time.

We do not recommend a home with cats for Archie due to his prey drive and love of chasing.

A delightful young boy, Archie is ready for his forever home. Will it be yours?

Archie has been neutered, microchipped and is up-to-date on vaccines. He is being lovingly fostered in KINGSTON, ONTARIO and his adoption fee is $600.

If you are interested in hearing more about this lovely little boy, fill out an application at http://russellrescue.org/adoption/ and more comprehensive information will be provided about him. NOTE: ONLY queries with a COMPLETED FORM will receive a reply due to the volume of requests for info we receive.

JRTRO does not adopt out to homes with children under the age of eight years or where there are dogs that have not been spayed/neutered. For complete information about our adoption process please go to our website: http://www.russellrescue.org
