Archie - (1 of the 19 shih tzus)'s Story

Foster update for Archie:
I have been fostering Archie from before Xmas. He has a neuter date of January 30th, but I am hoping he can go to his adopters shortly after that date because he deserves so much more than he had in the past. Archie is estimated to be around 3-4 years old and came from the puppy mill shut down in December. He has a really sweet and loving temperament and just wants to be with his human. He is learning to walk on a leash, learning sit, has been incredibly good with potty training, is very treat/food motivated and a fast learner. He is not food aggressive. He has been great with my kids and my dog. He loves running around the yard and is starting to have interest in toys and balls. He needs work on his confidence and checks in with me constantly. He does not like the crate, but is okay being in a penned area at night. It is clear that he has never lived inside a house, so he needs some work and training on settling down inside. He loves to give kisses and deserves to have the best life ever!

Please apply at www.peanutsplacerescue.org click application scroll down until it appears. These dogs will all need shaved completely. 20 yrs of rescue and even I’ve never seen dogs this bad. I don’t even know how a groomer can get through these mats, some solid blocks and a few we were unable to determine sexes. We got 19. Amazing that all of these dogs are only about a year to 2 yrs old at the most Most were easy to handle. A couple gave us a little growl but no attempts to bite. Be prepared, these dogs are disgusting. They smell they have fleas and ticks some can barely move from the mats on their legs. They have zero vetting and won’t for a while. No vet could even give a shot until shaved down. We can start setting vet appts after Jan 1. All are shihtzus or Lhasas. I’m sure this puppy mill will make the news. About 80 dogs in deplorable living conditions. And people were buying puppies off these people for Christmas!!!
