ARCHER's Story

Hi there, future best friend! My name is Archer, and I’m a handsome 1-year-old black Lab with a heart that’s just waiting to shine. I found my way to the shelter as a stray, so I’m still figuring out this big, busy world but I promise I’m trying my best every single day. At first I can be a little shy, especially around men, so I need someone patient who will take things slow and let me build trust at my own pace. Once I feel safe though, my sweet side really comes out. I love attention, enjoy being near my people, and I’ve got plenty of love (and tail wags!) to give. I’ve done well in playgroups here, so I might enjoy having a canine sibling, but we’d definitely need to meet first to make sure we’re a good match. I’m still a young guy and have a lot to learn. I’ll need an experienced owner who can help me with basic training and building confidence. I recently tried out a home, and it just wasn’t the right fit for me yet. I got overwhelmed meeting new people too quickly and showed that I need slower introductions and someone who understands my comfort level especially around men. I’m also not fully crate trained yet and have proven to be a bit of an escape artist, so if you plan to use a crate, it’ll need to be extra sturdy and paired with some training to help me feel safe and secure. I’d really benefit from someone willing to work with me (maybe even a trainer!) to help me learn routines and expectations. The good news? I’m young, smart, and eager to bond.... I just need the right person to guide me. If you’re patient, experienced, and believe in helping a dog grow into his best self, I think we could be something really special. Come meet me and let’s start our story together. If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog's better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. Your dog’s adoption fee includes: - Current age-appropriate CORE Vaccines (Rabies/DHPP/Bordetella) - Heartworm Tested - Current on NexGard PLUS Monthly Preventative Chew (Flea/Tick/Heartworm Preventative & Dewormer) - Spaying or Neutering - 24-Petwatch Microchip Adoption fee: $135.00 Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2026 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. The cost of the license is $11.30. (Senior Citizen or Person with Disability-$9.30) Leash and collar included
