Animal Profile: Aragorn is an estimated 3-year-old, 11 lb Chihuahua mix. He was rescued from Stanislaus Animal Services, where he was at risk of euthanasia due to lack of space. Aragorn was nervous in the kennel, but was easily handled. He will do so much better outside of a noisy, stressful shelter. He was brought in with several other Chihuahuas (Frodo and Pippin) and is dog friendly.<br/><br/>Foster Update:<br/><br/>Are you not sure if you want a dog or a cat? Or maybe you want a cat but also a security system? Aragorn is the boy for you. He's not a cuddler and allows pets only on his schedule (mornings are best, belly please). But he's sweet and calm, loves other dogs once they are in the pack - a home with another dog is a must! - and loves to have a job. Give him a fence to patrol or a treat to find and he's happy and vigilant. He's great once on the leash, although getting him there can take a while. He's not big on crowds or new experiences, but meal time or a fresh new bone make him delirious with joy. He'll do best in a home with a consistent routine, another dog, a big yard, and a parent with the patience to see the sweet, loving, loyal little dog under the standoffishness.<br/><br/>Adopter profile: experienced dog owner, resident dog (or two), fenced yard, no kids, willing to continue crate training.<br/><br/>Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization.
