Apollo's Story
Apollo began his life with an elderly couple who found his puppy energy to be more than they bargained for. He then spent the next few years with a family with two young children and another dog. As time went on and mom went back to work, properly caring for the young dog became difficult and they made the hard decision to find a new home for this hunky fellow.

Apollo was fortunate to spend time in a foster home in AL and he won the heart of his foster dad! He tells us how well-behaved and laid back Apollo is, and that he is a wonderful house guest who is fully house-broken. Apollo got along well with his 5-year-old Lab and rides so nicely in the car. As a matter of fact, his former family said going for rides in the truck was one of Apollo's favorite things to do. He is not a fan of thunder or fireworks, but he is not destructive - just paces and pants a bit. Apollo grew up with young children, one of them being autistic, and has always enjoyed the company of kids. He knows the commands sit, stay, and come, but is sometimes a bit hearing-selective. :-) His family described him as a loving couch dog who is also very lazy at times.

Apollo is truly one of the sweetest dogs we have had in our care. He is super chill and just wants to hang out with his humans and cuddle. He enjoys spending time in the yard and we will seek a home for him with a physically fenced yard so he can sniff all the good scents in to his heart's content. He is good with other dogs but needs a home without cats - they are just too interesting to him!

Apollo is estimated to be about 2-3 years old and weighs about 85 lbs. He is believed to be a Bernese Mountain Dog mix, maybe with some Newfie. Whatever breeds he may be, he is GORGEOUS with his beautiful black coat and white blaze on his chest! His paws even have some white spots on them as though Apollo stepped in some paint! Just look at how handsome Apollo is with his red bandana. He is one of the COOLEST dogs ever!

Apollo was well-cared for by his former family and is up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, micro-chipped and heartworm negative. He has been given a Proheart-6 injection for 6 months of heartworm prevention. Apollo is in Baldwin County, AL and ready to meet his new family. Could that possibly be YOU?

Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to take on whatever comes with the dog. It is up to YOU to continue the rehabilitation we have begun. This is what it means to rescue.

If you would like to be part of this dog's rescue story, and you have already been approved for adoption through J & L, please contact Lisa at: lucyphil99@gmail.com or 251-404-0045 to be considered.

If not yet approved, please use this link to submit an online application: http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/8O06oK9Af8

You can also visit our website to learn more: http://jandlgoldenretrieverrescue.com/index.html

Please direct any questions regarding your application status to Lisa at: lucyphil99@gmail.com

Thank you!

About Our Rescue
Before being approved to adopt, all potential adopters will be required to complete our online application and participate in our pre-adoption review process. The process includes the completion of an online application, a reference from the applicants' vet, a phone interview, and a visit to the applicants' home. The application process helps us determine what type of Golden would be best suited for the applicants' life style. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may indicate that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are frequently getting new Goldens in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and complete the application process so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready.

Adoption Fees - effective October 1, 2024
$1000 Purebred Puppy up to 12 months
$1450 Purebred Puppy Pair up to 12 months
$450 Dogs under 7 years
$250 Seniors, 7+ years
$650 Pairs

The information provided on each dog is based on the observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters, and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, J & L does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will behave and adapt in your home.

A contract is signed on the day of adoption. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring their dog to a vet within 7 business days. All dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. However, if an adopter's vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog may be returned and a full refund would be provided.

Most of our dogs are fostered in private homes. We do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! To this end, the rescue retains an interest in each dog and our dogs can never be surrendered, re-homed, or sold. Should an adopter no longer be able to keep their J & L dog, J & L must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer providing proper care. Adopters agree to follow up visits as needed.

Please be a ray of light for this J & L dog and make a tax deductible donation toward medical care and other expenses. Every cent of your generosity goes directly toward the care of a J & L dog.

THANK YOU!
