Apollo's Story
APOLLO #928

Age: 4 months old

Color & Breed: Tricolor Basset/Bernadoodle Mix

Gender: Intact Male - Contract Required

Weight: 24 pounds

Apollo#928 was part of an oops litter. He and his brothers Andre and Angus are an interesting mix of basset crossed with Bernedoodle, and each got their own special blend of the three breeds! Apollo looks like a long-and-low version of a Bernese mountain dog with his black-and-tan coloring and slightly wiry coat. He has the chunkiest paws ever, and his fosters are interested to see whether he will ever grow into them.

Apollo lives with dogs, cats, and a teenager, and has been polite to each and every one of them. He enjoys a good walk and likes to go in and out of the doggy door to a fenced-in backyard. With a good routine, he’ll be potty trained in no time, and is learning to enjoy nighttime in his crate (although he put in a special request for a family who might let him sleep in bed with them! He really is quite snuggly.)

Apollo’s so long and lanky that he can play in two different time zones. He enjoys toys of all types, and, like most puppies, enjoys seeing what he can fit in his mouth. He’s a smart boy and really wants to please people.

How could you say no to these puppy dog eyes?

Because we believe strongly in promoting the health of our dogs, MNBR does not spay/neuter puppies until six months of age. Intact puppies under 6 months old must be adopted in MN or within 250 miles of St. Paul in WI, IA, ND, or SD and with a spay/neuter contract. The cost of the spay/neuter is the responsibility of MNBR and reflected in the adoption fee.

Puppies are A LOT of work and a 12+ year commitment, so make sure you have thought it through and are fully ready for the responsibility prior to applying.

For more information on adopting with MNBR visit https://www.mnbassetrescue.com/adoption

MNBR adopts locally as much as possible so we can properly support our foster dogs and adopters if the need arises. We accept applications from within the following areas: all of Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin and other applicants within a 6 ½ hour radius of our headquarters in St. Paul, MN.

Minnesota Basset Rescue (MNBR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dog rescue based in Minnesota. MNBR rehomes dogs from owners who can no longer provide their care and rescues dogs from local pounds and shelters. As an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue we welcome anyone who loves dogs and wishes to help hounds live a healthy and happy life. Our organization provides safe, loving foster home, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities while working hard to find them a permanent, loving home!
