Apollo's Story

Meet Apollo! Apollo is approximately 5 years old and is thought to be a possible Hound/Labrador type mix. We cannot know for sure without a DNA test, but he's a nice medium size (lower 50 lb range) and full of sweetness!

Apollo was found as a stray and was not claimed by his family. Because of this, we don't know what his life was like prior to coming to the shelter, and we're learning a little bit every day that we have him. He has loved humans from the moment he walked through our doors, and is a very friendly and affectionate dog. He loves to be by people! He did come in with a growth on his back, which was removed when he was neutered (see photos for reference). It was sent off for testing, so we will know more once the results come back, but ultimately it doesn't seem to bother him at all and we're hoping for a full recovery!

Apollo keeps his kennel clean and potties when we take him outside, so we think he was potty trained in his previous home. He walks nicely and enthusiastically on leash, so we think he'll make a great companion for someone who wants a walking buddy! That being said, he's not hyper, so he'll also enjoy the couch with you on a rainy day. We think he'll do well with other pets & children as long as everyone is properly introduced and supervised. (We do not house cats at our facility, so we don't know how he'd do with felines)

At the end of the day, Apollo is one of those guys who doesn't ask for much and enjoys the simple things in life. He does well in his kennel, greets everyone with a wagging tail, and is simply happy to be included in your day. If you're looking for a sweetheart like this, follow the link below! We are doing all meet n' greets BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an adoption application has been generally approved:
monroecountydogshelter.com/apply-adopt.html

Apollo is fully vaccinated & neutered.
