She is not the type to immediately greet strangers and prefers to observe quietly and take her time. Once she considers someone family, she becomes affectionate and expressive in her own calm way. Anna does not enjoy being picked up or sitting on laps, but she loves being close to her people. When she settles beside you, she especially enjoys gentle “booty pats.” Her foster family describes her as sweet, polite, slightly independent, and very gentle. She needed about 1–2 weeks to fully relax in her foster home, and since then her confidence continues to grow.

🩺 Health
• Healthy overall
• Mild tear staining
• Regular bowel movements (1–2 times daily)
• Good appetite and normal activity
She receives daily probiotics to support digestion and has no known food allergies.

🦟 Preventatives
Anna receives NexGard Spectra on the 23rd of every month year-round for protection against fleas, ticks, and heartworms. Adopters should continue monthly preventatives.

🍽 Diet
Currently eating Orijen Turkey Recipe. Favorite treats include boiled sweet potato and dried pollack treats, and she generally enjoys most dog treats. She does not prefer apples or strawberries. Vegetables are eaten if cooked with chicken and mixed into her food.

👨👩👧 With People
Anna is shy with new people at first. She prefers slow introductions and may feel uncomfortable with immediate touching, but she shows no aggression and simply needs time to observe. Once she trusts someone, she becomes affectionate and relaxed. Her behavior toward men and women is similar.

👶 With Children
Anna can do well with calm and respectful children. She is sensitive to loud sounds and sudden movements, so very young or highly energetic children may overwhelm her.

🐕 With Other Dogs
Anna is still gaining confidence with other dogs. When she first arrived in foster care, she tucked her tail when seeing dogs on walks. Recently (Feb 28), she successfully greeted a calm poodle and initiated sniffing. She appears to be gradually building confidence with calm dogs, but dogs that rush directly toward her may feel overwhelming.

🐱 With Cats
Anna currently lives with a cat and does very well. After a two-week introduction period they coexist comfortably. She sometimes tries to play with the cat but shows no aggression. She has also behaved calmly around another household cat.

🏠 Home Life
Anna lives with a foster mother in her 30s, an adult daughter in her 20s, a teenage daughter, and an 11-year-old cat. She is most attached to her primary caregiver but enjoys the whole family.

🚽 Potty Habits
Anna is 100% outdoor potty trained. When she first arrived she was too nervous to eliminate outside, but once she settled in she transitioned fully to outdoor potty.

🚶 Exercise
Her routine typically includes a 20–30 minute morning walk, an afternoon walk of about 40 minutes, and an evening walk of 20–30 minutes. She becomes excited when she hears “Let’s go for a walk.”

🚶♀️ Leash Behavior
Anna can become excited at the beginning of walks and may pull briefly. With gentle guidance she settles and walks well. She may startle at loud or sudden sounds, so keeping a secure grip on the leash is important.

🚗 Car Rides
Anna rides calmly once settled in the car. She may pant for the first few minutes but relaxes quickly. She should always be secured with a leash or harness because she has attempted to jump out when doors open.

📦 Crate
Anna sometimes chooses to rest in her crate when she wants quiet time. Closing the crate door may cause mild anxiety, so it currently serves as a safe retreat space.

🛁 Grooming
Anna dislikes water and loud dryer noise. She may try to move away during baths but shows no aggression and tolerates tooth brushing, handling, and nail care well.

🎾 Play Style
Anna enjoys running outdoors, squeaky toys, plush toys, and gentle tug games. She can run quite fast. Because recall is not yet reliable outdoors, off-leash play is not recommended.

🏡 Ideal Home
Anna will thrive with adopters who enjoy daily walks and outdoor activity, can give her time to build trust, appreciate a calm and slightly independent personality, and provide a quiet and stable environment. She may do best as an only dog, though she may also live with a calm dog or cat.

🚫 Not the Best Fit
Very loud households, homes with very young children, or adopters expecting a constant lap dog may not be the best match. Anna shows affection by staying close rather than sitting on laps.

🛟 Adoption Safety Guidelines
The safety of our dogs is our top priority. Newly adopted dogs are adjusting to a completely new environment, and even well-behaved dogs may become frightened or disoriented during the transition period.
📍 GPS Tracking Requirement (Non-Negotiable)
All adopted dogs must wear a GPS tracker with an active subscription so their location can always be monitored. This provides an important safety layer in case a dog escapes while adjusting to a new home. Examples include Fi Collar, Tractive GPS, or similar GPS tracking collars. The GPS subscription must remain active for ongoing tracking.

💬 A Note From Her Foster Family
Anna is an incredibly gentle dog. Even when she dislikes something—bathing, nail care, or having treats taken away—she has never growled or snapped. She simply needs patience at first. Once she trusts you, she quietly stays near you like a small shadow. And if you give her a little butt scratch, she will be very happy.
