Anita's Story

Some dogs end up in the shelter through no fault of their own… and Anita is one of them.

Anita is a 5-year-old, 50-pound Lab/Pit Bull mix whose life started in heartbreaking circumstances. Over a year ago, she arrived at a South Carolina shelter with 17 other dogs from a severe hoarding situation, where they were living in terrible conditions and not receiving the care they deserved.

Despite everything she went through, Anita never lost her gentle, loving spirit.

Over the past year she has made an incredible transformation. The scared dog who once arrived from that situation has blossomed into one of the sweetest, most loving dogs you could ever meet.

Anita truly loves everyone she meets — children, adults, and other dogs alike. In fact, she became such a well-mannered and trustworthy dog that the shelter even used her for educational visits to local schools in South Carolina, helping children learn about dogs and animal care.

She’s the kind of dog who just fits into life easily.

Anita is crate trained and potty trained, and her personality is wonderfully balanced. She isn’t overly high energy or chaotic — she has a calm, easygoing demeanor and enjoys simply being around her people. She may get a quick burst of zoomies now and then, but after that she’s perfectly content relaxing and soaking up attention.

The truth is, Anita has been overlooked time and time again, waiting far longer than any dog should for someone to choose her. That’s exactly why we brought her here — because she deserves the chance at the incredible life she’s been patiently waiting for.

Anita would make a wonderful addition to almost any family looking for a loyal, loving companion.

She’s waited long enough. Now she just needs someone to see how special she truly is.

Apply for Anita: www.freedomfirstrescue.com/anita
