Angel's Story
Angel was named for her angelic face. She is very beautiful with expressive clear brown eyes. She weighs about 16lbs, which is a good weight for her. Normal appetite, normal energy, and plays well with dogs she knows. Her hair is soft, straight, white and fluffy, and she will require regular grooming. Her breed is just a guess, but she appears to be non-shedding.

To understand a little of Angel's history, she and 50+ other dogs were confiscated from a hoarding situation in southern CA. The dogs ran wild there, and any human contact they had was not positive.

This little girl came to rescue very pregnant and so scared, she panicked at being touched. She received multiple shots from the shelter all in one day, and sadly two of her puppies did not survive.

Due to her fears of humans, it has been challenging to 'get through to her,' and convince her that humans can be really nice also. Her foster mom has spent months carefully and slowly gaining her trust, and Angel's made a lot of progress, but she does not seek pets or join her foster mom on the couch. She likes treats, occasionally accepts a little petting, and seems really happy to see her foster mom when she returns home from errands.

She has come a long way, has a very sweet temperament, and we are hoping she will finish blossoming in her new home. She will most likely want to keep a distance from strangers or guests for quite a while, and she will thrive with routine meals and potty walks. Angel knows how to use a dog door, but not necessarily to go potty. When her foster mom takes her outside, she will potty, but she has not learned to communicate her needs well yet...

Angel will need a patient human with lots of time the first month or so to really nail down a regular eating and potty routine. She won't be comfortable with holding and petting at first and will need some encouragement to get her used to being touched and feeling safe and relaxed. It is doubtful she will do this on her own without encouragement. Who knows. We are hoping a new approach will help Angel get past her fears and start living the good life as a beloved pet. Her nature is very sweet; she is just scared and untrusting.

If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Angel, the first step is to submit an adoption application.
