Andy's Story

Andy is one of the kindest, most affectionate, and social huskies we have ever met!

He is an easy-going, conflict avoidant guy with other dogs. He loves to play and is eager to make friends! Andy is 3-4 years old, neutered, and UTD on veterinary care.

Andy came to NH after finding his way into a home down in Texas as a stray. The finder scanned his microchip and contacted his old owner, who "did not want him back". This lovely lady had small dogs that Andy was fantastic with and had a relatively easy time living with him!

However, he guarded food and did nip this nice lady. Thus, the search began for him to find a more experienced and safe home that was husky-savvy.

And now he is here! Andy has been decompressing and under evaluation for several weeks. Andy has shown one instance of food guarding in the first 48 hours but nothing since. This is easily managed by feeding him separately from other animals and leaving him alone to eat in a crate or kennel.

Andy will be working on his basic leash manners, as he currently has zero. Andy is non-destructive, house trained, crate trained, and loves to snuggle.

He will need a home dedicated to setting him up for success, which includes setting clear boundaries and expectations of behavior. Huskies are highly intelligent, problem-solving, and active dogs--they can easily take over a household that is not structured correctly.

And yes--he DOES sing. A lot.
