Amber's Story
Amber first came to CRA with her litter of puppies—lovingly known as the “Seinfeld” litter. All of her babies have since found homes. Although her original family hoped to keep her, circumstances changed, and now Amber is searching for her own happily ever after. Amber is currently on Fluoxetine to help manage her separation anxiety. She is working on crate training confidence and knowing that you will return, however her previous life wasn't the best so it is a day by day journey.

Amber is a small terrier mix with plenty of youthful energy—and yes, there’s definitely some Chihuahua in the mix. She’s not the best at marketing herself, but she’s also completely unbothered by that fact. (According to her foster mom, she’s perfectly content living rent-free forever. Foster mom may or may not be seeking rescue herself.)

She’s very suspicious of strangers at first and would honestly prefer not to be perceived until she decides you’re worthy. Once she drops the diva act, though, she is going to hug your leg and wait until you pet her head.

She’s lightning-fast when the zoomies strike, ridiculously soft (think bunny-level soft), and always down to binge some questionable TV while judging your coworkers with you.

Amber takes her self-appointed role as personal bodyguard very seriously. If someone questionable shows up, she will unleash a full blast of Chihuahua sass to make sure you’re well protected. Because of her bold personality, we’re looking for an adult-only home where her strong opinions will be appreciated.

She has done well with all dogs she has met, and well she has met a lot in the TWO years she has been waiting for her forever home.

A home with a yard would be ideal so she can explore without leash frustrations.

Amber is perfectly imperfect, full of sass, charm, loyalty, and personality. If you’re ready for a tiny, devoted sidekick who will demand treats and give you endless entertainment in return, she just might be your girl.

Amber’s adoption fee includes her spay, microchip, up-to-date vaccines and preventatives, and she is heartworm negative. If you live within three hours of Chicago and would like to be considered, please apply directly. For questions prior to applying, email adopt@chicagorescueauthority.org
