Amara's Story

Amara is a resilient, affectionate girl with a truly remarkable story and a heart that’s just as big as her journey.

Her life began in Kuwait, where dogs often face heartbreaking circumstances. While there, Amara was tragically struck by an oil truck and left for dead. Against all odds, she survived. Thanks to the compassionate team at Save a Soul Kuwait, Amara was rescued and underwent lifesaving spinal surgery literally having her spine pinned back together. After months of rehabilitation, she relearned how to walk and eventually made her way to the United States in hopes of finding a forever home.

Despite everything she has endured, Amara’s spirit shines. She does wonderfully with people and thrives on attention and affection. She moves around with ease, including stairs and enjoys playful moments like chasing other dogs at the dog park. Watching her run and engage is a powerful reminder of just how far she’s come.

Amara’s primary ongoing medical need is incontinence, likely caused by nerve damage from her injury. This includes both urinary and fecal incontinence. We continue to work closely with her veterinarian to explore any possible improvements, though treatments so far have not resolved the issue. Amara does well using pee pads and has adapted beautifully with routine and support.

One of her sweetest moments in foster care may have been her first experience with snow something she likely never encountered in Kuwait. Seeing her explore it with curiosity and joy was a reminder that Amara is still discovering the simple comforts of life.

After waiting far too long in boarding, Amara is now settled into a foster home where she can finally rest, feel safe, and be herself. She is ready for a patient, compassionate home that understands her needs and sees her not for what she’s been through but for who she is today: a loving, resilient dog who deserves stability, dignity, and love.

If you believe you could be that home for Amara, we would love to hear from you.

Reed's Rescue
443-826-9841
reedsrescue.org
P.O.
