Alvin's Story
Meet Alvin!

Alvin is a 2-year-old Yorkshire Terrier mix with a big heart and a gentle soul. He’s an affectionate, smart little guy who truly loves his people and forms strong bonds. Alvin does well with both people and other dogs and would love to have one or two calm canine buddies to help him feel secure—he thrives when he doesn’t have to compete for attention.

Like many sensitive dogs, Alvin has a few quirks. He experiences anxiety when crated and when his people leave, especially if he can see them go. He does best when he’s kept occupied in another room while his person steps out. In the past, crating during departures was too stressful for him, but he has already shown improvement and has been calming down over the past couple of weeks. With patience, reassurance, and consistent training, his confidence continues to grow.

Alvin’s potty training is coming along nicely. He uses a dog door and does great with gentle reminders. In busy, high-activity environments he can get distracted and forget to go outside, but with structure and routine he succeeds.

He’s not a barker, is very loving, and enjoys being close to his people. A quieter home would be ideal for Alvin—perhaps with retirees or someone who works from home—where he can feel secure and supported. His current environment has many dogs, which can overwhelm him and increase his anxiety.

With a calm home, clear routines, and positive training, Alvin has so much potential to truly shine. He’s a devoted companion who loves to cuddle at bedtime and he is just waiting for the right match to help him feel safe and loved.

Could Alvin be your perfect little shadow?

If you think Alvin may be the one for you, please go to our website at www.wagstorichesanimalrescue.org and fill out an application to adopt. Please be sure to include a vet reference as regular vet care is important to us for the health of all our adopted dogs. With approval and a $295 adoption donation, he will be ready to accompany you on all of life’s many adventures! Alvin is neutered, microchipped, fecal tested clean of internal parasites and up to date on his vaccinations.
