Allie's Story

Allie is a 5 year old Lab mix with the softest heart and the sweetest, most gentle presence. She was originally adopted from Lancaster shelter at 1 year old right before being euthanized, then returned 4 years later and ended up back on the euthanasia list. She was rescued the same day she was scheduled to be euthanized, and since then has been learning what it feels like to be safe again.

From her fosters: “The more time we spend with Allie, the more we fall in love with her. She has truly blossomed in foster care, and her personality keeps unfolding more every day.”

At home, she’s a calm, easygoing couch potato who just wants to be near her people. She’ll lay beside you, quietly keeping you company, happy just to exist in a safe space. But when she’s out in the world at the beach, in the car, or around other dogs… she completely lights up. She gets playful, curious, and goofy, running around with other dogs and exploring everything around her. It’s like watching her remember how to be a dog again.

She loves going places and is incredibly well-behaved. She’s the perfect customer at breweries and restaurants, and wonderful during outings. She settles right in – calm observant, and curious.

Allie is AMAZING with other dogs and truly thrives with a canine companion. Having another dog around helps her feel confident and brings out her playful, happy side. She’s also great with cats, kids, and has done well with everyone and every animal she’s met.

She can be a little timid when meeting new people, which is completely understandable given everything she’s been through. But even in those moments, she is gentle, curious, and trying. She’s not overly affectionate right away, but you can tell she wants love. She’s just learning how to trust it. When she starts to open up it’s incredibly special to witness.

Allie is one of those dogs you don’t fully understand until you meet and spend time with her. She’s quiet, soulful, and deeply loving in a way that grows stronger every day. She doesn’t need much. Just a safe, patient home and someone who will choose her, consistently and forever. She will be the most loyal, steady, and loving companion to the person who gives her that chance.

Allie is fully house-trained, crate-trained, spayed, and up to date on all vaccinations.

Fostered in San Diego.
Apply to adopt: homeboundhounds.org/adopt
