Alkaline's Story

This beautiful and sweet gal is Alkaline. Miss Alkaline asks for very little but does require a few things in her forever home. A fenced yard and a furry 4 legged companion (dog or cat).

She needs a dog or cat companion. Right now she is a little scared for human interaction but will light up and her tail will start wagging when a cat or dog is around. This companion can help her learn to trust humans more.

She would prefer if you have a doggy door to get to the fenced in yard. If you don't she will need some work and patience to get her out into the yard. She doesn't seem to know how doors work.

She will tell you she has to potty but she is too afraid of a leash to do walks or any type of outside lead. And with doors she often goes to the wrong side of the opening and gets scared if you reach at her too quickly. She does allow you to carry her once she is comfortable with you. A dog door can be a good way for her to use the bathroom until she learns to trust you.

She came to us from Oklahoma with her 7 babies and now all of them are looking for a home. She was found as a stray so her past is somewhat of a mystery but what we do know is she tends to be more of a wallflower. She prefers to spend her time lounging in another room or a comfy crate with the door open chewing on a bone just watching everything around her.

While she is very skittish and afraid of mostly everything, she doesn't mind the sound of the vaccum or a sander. So she doesn't mind you doing house projects or other work near her. Her skittish-ness mostly shows up in her being shy and hiding. It will take her time to want to come up to you and trust you and come out of her shell. In a few weeks you will notice her hop on the couch opposite of you and slowly get closer day by day. It will take time and patience but she is 100% worth it. She is sweet girl and has shown a bit of her goofy side while playing with other dogs at her foster house. It can been incredibly reward to win the heart and trust of such a sweet lady.

She is very interested in squeaker toys but has not actually played with them yet...she hoards them in her bed. Older kids who know how to respect her would be ideal (most likely 5+). She is very food (and bones) motivated (chicken being her favorite) so that is the way to her heart. With how scared she is she will not be at any events so if you do have any questions feel free to reach out.

**Dog breeds listed are best guesses from veterinary professionals, they are never a guarantee. www.brownpawsrescue.com.
