Alice Rose's Story

Alice Rose (front left in picture) arrived at our shelter with her brother, Scooby. Both dogs are a bit overweight and need a diet and exercise plan to get them back to a healthy size.

Alice Rose and Scooby are a little over 20 pounds each and one year and eight months old. They were in a home but were surrendered to our partner rescue in the South who sent them our way. Though we'd prefer to see them go home together the sending rescue indicates they can be separated for the right homes.

Alice Rose spent some time on a “sleepover” where she shared her space successfully with other dogs and cats. She Is now back at the shelter happily reunited with her brother, and we've learned a little more about her.

- She loves leash walks and rides- used harness attached to dog seat belt clip to secure her in the car to ensure that she didn't escape when doors open.

- She walks well on a leash with harness on. A martingale collar is recommended too.

- It takes her a little time to warm up to new people, but once she does, she loves attention and is quite persistent in asking for it!

- She LOVES to run outside in a fenced yard. A fence is recommended so she can run some of her energy off safely.

- She likes having a safe space of her own, such as an open crate, that she can watch the household or just nap in.

- She needs time to learn new noises. New noises are scary to her until she acclimates.

Please e-mail Charleysstrays@yahoo.com if you are interested in meeting Alice Rose!
