Alfred's Story
DOB: 2/11/2022
Breed: Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier mix
-Neutered Male 50lbs
-Microchipped & fully vaccinated.
-Negative for heartworm & tick-borne diseases, and on a monthly preventative
*Adoption Fee $300*

Hi there, I’m Alfred! I know I might not make the best impression in my kennel, but can you really blame me? I’ve spent most of my life in the shelter, and it’s the only world I’ve ever really known. Once I’m out of this noisy space, you’ll see the real me, a well-mannered boy who walks great on a leash and is loyal to the core. I was adopted once for a few months, and in the home setting, I didn’t have any accidents, destroy anything, and I slept soundly in my kennel at bedtime. I did struggle with resource guarding my mom, which is why I was returned, but I promise with the right structure and understanding, I can thrive. I tend to warm up to women a little quicker, and I’m looking for a calm home with no children or small animals, since I have no prior experience or socialization with them. I love playing in water, and I’m also a champ at bath time and the groomer. I just need someone willing to see past that first impression and give me the opportunity I’ve been waiting my whole life for.

The highlights…
-Guardian at heart
-I love playing in water
-I’d make a great hiking buddy
-Dog selective. Prefers alpha females

My ideal home would include…
-Patience is key. I may take time to adjust to a new home environment. Time, consistency, and positive reinforcement will help me as I learn.
-Ongoing training and socialization. After spending most of my time in a shelter, I will have gaps in my social skills with people and other animals. Structed training, firm leadership, and controlled introductions to new situations will be essential.
-Exercise and mental stimulation. Dogs with limited past experiences often have pent-up energy and curiosity. Regular exercise, enrichment activities, and structured routine will help me thrive
