Alfie's Story

Alfie is a dating pawfessional. He loved the early morning hike and a nice snooze. After lunch, he loved exploring the cool altitude of Mt. Rose and paddling in the streams. His date said he was a sweet and gentle guy who LOVED being at home. Alfie was excited to see dogs, curious about lizards and birds but never chased them. Alfie has found that AC vents are the best thing in a car and tuna makes a great snack. He really loves the water and a cold drink from a bowl in the shade. He would love the opportunity to settle into a home and find his spot. Alfie requires regular cuddle time along with play time and hopes that his favorite snack (tuna) might be a regular addition to your shopping list.

So, you’re ready to adopt – wonderful! We are so glad you have decided to become a pet parent. You probably have some questions, naturally. Here are a few things to keep in mind to help you prepare for the big day. Helpful Things to Know Age Requirement: Adopters must be at least 18 years old, and have a current photo ID. Adoption Fees: Adoption prices vary depending on several factors. Pets age 8+ are always fee-waived. Pets come vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered! Dogs in the Home: If there are other dogs in your home, we do not necessarily require the resident dog to meet the adopted dog. However, in some cases, there are dogs available for adoption who must meet resident dogs in the home. If you’d like your dog to meet its possible new sibling, they may do so once the adopter meet-and-greet is completed. Small Animals in the Home: Other small pets in your home (cats, rabbits, etc.) are not permitted to meet prior to adoption. Placing A Pet on Hold: If you meet a pet and it’s love at first lick, but you are unable to adopt them immediately, we allow a 24-hour hold. The cost is $25 and you must first meet the pet, and ensure it is a good fit! Discounts: We offer a military discount for active duty and veterans who've served. Please ask your adoption counselor for more details!
