Animal Information: Alfalfa is a handsome 2-year-old, 50-pound, male Doberman Pinscher mix with the sweetest presence to match his good looks. He was at risk at the Stanislaus shelter, and after seeing his notes and videos we knew we had to save him. According to staff, this sweetheart absolutely loves attention and is always happy to soak up affection from his people. He's patient in his kennel, easy to leash, and walks nicely on leash with only minor pulling. Once he's in the yard, his playful side shines -- get ready for some serious zoomies! Alfalfa enjoy being pet all over and is especially a fan of booty scratches.<br/><br/>While he can be a little jumpy when excited, he listens well to "no" and "down", already knows how to sit and is eager to please. He is energetic but not 'wild' and would make a great hiking or jogging buddy. He loves fetch in the yard, going on walks, and hanging out with his people getting pets and love. He is good in his crate, but can be vocal when left alone so we are not considering apartments for him at this time. He is potty trained, and rides well in the car. Alfalfa can be a bit mischievous, and is learning the ropes of being in a house, but with proper guidance we believe he will thrive. He is very food motivated and wants to please, making training good stimulation for him.<br/><br/>As Alfalfa has settled in he has demonstrated some leash reactivity as well as guardian breed behavior with new people, both are improving with the guidance of his committed fosters.<br/>He<br/><br/>is great with other dogs off leash, big and small, and responds well to their c<br/>o<br/>rrections if they aren't up for his enthusiasm.<br/>Alfie is a smart, trainable guy, who will benefit from an owner with strong leadership skills and large breed experience.<br/><br/>Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations Rabies and DPPV per AVMA standards, any indicated preventative care, heartworm test, microchip with lifetime registration, and recent health check with a veterinarian.
