Alexis's Story
Meet Alexis.
She came into this world with the odds stacked against her.
Just a baby herself Alexis was alone and deep in the Arkansas woods, pregnant, riddled with worms and parasites, and carrying scars on her face left behind by the very humans who were supposed to protect her. She had known hunger, pain, and fear before she ever knew kindness.
She made it to a shelter, where she gave birth to ten puppies. And then, one by one, she watched six of them die. Let that sink in for a moment. This girl weathered grief that would break most of us and she kept going.
When the call came to get her out, she was transported north to foster care. And the moment we met? She jumped up and threw her whole self into a hug. Not cautiously. Not timidly. Completely. Like something in her just knew I'm safe now.
That moment tells you everything about who Lexi is.
She is not defined by what she survived. She is defined by how she loves.
Alexis is one of those rare souls who is grateful down to her bones. She will melt into you like she's trying to become part of you. She will cover your face in kisses until you physically make her stop and even then, she'll try to sneak one more in. She doesn't hold her past against anyone. She just wants to love you, and be loved back.
She's also sharp. Fully potty trained and will actually vocalize to let you know when she needs to go out. She knows sit and shake, and we're actively working on leash manners. Her one flaw? She loves strangers so much she forgets her manners and wants to jump up and say hello to everyone. We're working on it. She just wants to be everybody's friend.

A little about her:
Breed: Carolina Dog a genuinely rare and ancient breed, and a total conversation starter
Age: Listed as 3, but honestly? She acts like she never got the memo. This girl has puppy energy and a puppy heart.
Weight: 45 lbs of pure love (and muscle)
Kids: Great with bigger kids; can accidentally knock over little ones
Other dogs: Loves them a dog sibling would make her thrive
Energy: She's got a lot of it. Mental and physical stimulation are a must
Ideal home: A fenced yard is a big plus
Fun warning: She will lock eyes with you with an intensity that is unsettling. It's hilarious. You've been warned.

Alexis doesn't need a perfect home. She needs her home the one where someone sees how hard she fought to get here, and decides she deserves the rest of her life to be soft.
She has already given so much. Now it's someone's turn to give back to her.
Could that be you?
