Alex's Story

Meet Alex!

Some dogs find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time. Alex was one of them.

At just 4 years old and 38 pounds, Alex found himself on the euthanasia list at an overcrowded, high-kill shelter in South Carolina through no fault of his own. Thankfully, before his time ran out, Hearts and Tails stepped in and gave him the second chance he so desperately needed.

Alex's story began when he was found abandoned in an apartment with another dog. Despite being left behind by the people he trusted, Alex never lost his loving spirit. He was adopted once, but returned simply because he wasn't a good fit for a home with cats. Their loss is about to be someone else's incredible gain.

This handsome boy is the perfect combination of playful goofball and well-mannered gentleman. Alex is fun, silly, affectionate, and always ready to make you smile. He also has excellent manners and already knows commands like sit and down. He walks beautifully on a leash, takes treats with the gentlest touch, and rides like a champ in the car (once you give him a little boost inside).

Alex gets along great with other dogs and would love a canine friend to play with, but he'd also be happy soaking up all the attention himself. His medium size makes him the perfect companion for just about any lifestyle. Whether it's a hike, a road trip, a walk around the neighborhood, or a cozy evening on the couch, Alex is ready to be your sidekick.

Most of all, Alex is looking for what every dog deserves: a family who will love him forever and never leave him behind again.

After coming so close to losing his life, Alex now deserves the chance to write a new chapter.

If you are interested in adopting Alex, please complete an adoption application on our website.

Adoption Info:
Apply at https://www.heartsandtails.org/adoption-application
Due to high inquiry volume, only applicants who appear to be a good match will be contacted.
