ALESSA's Story
Hey hoomans!! My name is Alessa and here's my story:

PHYSICAL INFO:

Breed: Shepherd mix (just a guess really!)
Age: 6 years approx.
Gender: Female
Weight: 40lbs (18 kg)
Current Location: Guadalajara Mexico

RESCUE STORY - I was born and raised in a garbage dump in Guadalajara Mexico (the only home I had ever known) when one day the dump burned down...When this happened I decided to take refuge under a trailer and I was so scared I wouldn't move! Luckily some kind hoomans showed up to rescue us and I decided I wanted this very much. Although it took a lot of courage, I managed to crawl out from my hiding place and look for a better life. I proceeded to follow them and gave them my best 'puppy eyes' until I convinced them to take me hehehe. I was then adopted a few months later and spent the next four years with what was supposed to be my forever family...Sadly, they returned me, explaining that the young child in the home would bother me and that I had started 'snapping'. As a result, I spent the last few months kept outside in the backyard. Now I have been rescued once again! I am healing all over again and waiting for a family who will truly love me and understand me, the same way I am ready to love them with all my heart.

TEMPERAMENT - I am initially shy and reserved when meeting new people, however once I know I'm safe I truly enjoy affection and I actively seek out 'my person'. I would like a hooman I know I can trust and for this I am willing to open my heart again (and I promise we'll end up being the best of friends!). I am described as a gentle, affectionate pup who enjoys being close to people and also likes playing with other pups from time to time. My favourite toys are stuffed animals and I am quite food-motivated and can also be driven by pleasing my hoomans (and hearing them speak to me in a gentle, kind voice).

ENERGY LEVEL - Low to Moderate

GETS ALONG WITH:

Kids – I would do best in a home without young children due to my recent experiences.
Dogs – Yep!! I get along just fine with other dogs and am currently staying with many as you can see here.
Cats – Unknown

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I'm not too sure how I'll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

Leash skills – My rescuers say this is still a work in progress as you can see here. I may need some additional patience and training.
House trained – My rescuer says I am doing well with this but I may need some additional training and patience.
Crate trained – My rescuer says this is in progress but I may need some additional training and patience.
Car rides – I do pretty well in the car but still may need some additional training and patience.

Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

I am spayed and vaccinated.
NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

My adoption fee is $728.00 CAD including tax ($650.00 plus 5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.

-------------------------------------

DISCLAIMER:

Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and it's adoption process.

The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.

WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed.
