Meet Alder (A569510) Alder arrived as a stray in early July from the county. Like most dogs, he was overwhelmed at first, unsure of the routine and not sure what to make of all the noise. Over time he has settled in and started to understand how shelter life works. He is a big hunk of a dog and absolutely a busy body who likes to be involved in whatever is happening. Alder is strong and silly and has a habit of headbutting like the pittapotamus he is. He does pull on a leash and could use some help with manners, so he will need a family that is dog savvy and comfortable handling a busy dog of his size. He has been tested with other dogs and does well, but he prefers to coexist rather than play. Families should keep in mind that he may not be the best playmate for their existing dog, more of a companion who occasionally checks in and then goes back to doing his own thing. Alder has been with us for over a month now, which makes him a long stay. Dogs like him often get overlooked for smaller or easier dogs, but Alder deserves someone who sees what a fun and loving partner he can be with the right guidance.
