ALASKA's Story

Alaska was found completely alone on the streets by a teenage girl on her way back from high school. This sweet girl couldn't just walk past her. Only a 3 months old puppy. She took Alaska home, even though she knew her parents were not going to be happy about having a dog. She promised them she would take care of her, but they told her they simply couldn't keep the puppy.

She had to find Alaska a home... or Alaska would have to go back to the streets.

And this young girl refused to give up on her.

She started asking everyone she knew and posting on social media, desperately trying to find someone who could help before Alaska ended up back outside — vulnerable to cars, abuse, neglect, hunger, and all the dangers that come with surviving alone on the streets.

One of our amazing fosters saw her post and contacted us:

If Dulce Vida can rescue her, I will foster her. And of course... we said YES. And OMG, are we happy we did.

Alaska is pure JOY. She is playful, happy, charismatic, adventurous and completely full of love and innocence. She is incredibly smart, quick, curious and always ready for whatever comes next. But what makes Alaska really special is how much she LOVES. She wants your kisses. She wants your hugs. She wants to cuddle. She wants to play. She wants adventures with you and then to curl up next to you when the adventure is over. She is the kind of dog who hugs you back and somehow makes you feel like, in that moment, you are the most important person in her entire world.

Alaska would be the perfect match for someone looking for more than just a dog. Someone who wants love, adventure, excitement, cuddles, silly moments, quiet moments... and a true forever companion.

This beautiful girl was almost sent back to the streets. Instead, one teenager cared enough to fight for her, one foster stepped up to protect her, and Dulce Vida said yes. Now we just need one more person to say YES to Alaska forever.

Location: San Diego, CA
Contact: adoptions@dulcevidarescue.org
Application Link: https://form.jotform.com/251455753402151
