Alani's Story
Im around 4 years old and on a journey to be fit again.

Ive been socialized with people, dogs and cats, although Im not a fan of everyone. Men tend to intimidate me, but with some treats, baby talk and butt scratches, I warm up easily!

Likewise, I love male dogs! I have a lot of female friends as well, but sometimes our confident personalities dont always jive well. I have even went to doggy daycare and boarding! I have had kitty siblings in the past, but, apparently, not all kitties like to play. I havent figured out entirely how to read them yet.

I prefer to not be around little/small children. I get overstimulated with the sounds and fast movements, and Im not sure how to communicate I need space and calm, yet its a work in progress.

Im also learning some new things from my foster mom, like not everyone likes to give hugs so I should wait until asked to offer one? Same with cuddles, but I thought everyone wanted to have me in their lap? And who said I cant say hi to the other furry friend walking across the street? I have to let them know Im on a walk too! But Im getting lots of treats in the process so I guess its cool.

Although I love to be an adventure buddy, being a couch potato doesnt sound too bad either. I looove my rope toy to play tug or a good bone to chew while we binge watch tv, and I always sleep with a pillow!

If my mom is at work, I relax in my room with no issue. I do yell at mom when she gets home until she opens my door, but she thinks once I dont have to stay in my room exclusively, it will be just a HI when she gets home. I

do have some foster sisters and brother right now, and they like to greet her too. Im starting to realize ok really means she heard me say Hi.

I may be a slow burner for some, but Im ready to find my forever home!

(Alani is well socialized in most aspects. She does have some boundary issues within confined spaces or when food is involved. She does eat separately from her foster siblings right now. She would do best within a single dog home or with a male dog, some females she does really well with, but she sometimes does not like a confident female. At most, within a home with three other females, she has grumbled to create space and does well with verbal redirection. We are currently working on socializing more, respecting boundaries, leash manners and some more basic commands such as lie down.)
