Akira's Story
Meet Akira! Akira is a beautiful 2.5-year-old Akita and Shepherd mix with a smile that’ll steal your heart and one adorable ear always perked up. This precious pup was pulled from a shelter in Idaho just 72 hours before she was scheduled for euthanasia, thanks to a kind-hearted city employee. Now she’s safe, loved, and waiting for the forever home she deserves to find.

Akira is friendly with people and has done well with older teens, though we haven’t had the chance to see her around young children. Her Akita-Shepherd mix gives her a unique blend of loyalty, intelligence, and independence. She’ll thrive best with someone who understands large, confident breeds and can provide her with the structure and companionship she craves. We would encourage her to be in a home as the only dog to start, and work up to adding a canine companion as she becomes more confident and comfortable in her new surroundings and leadership. She does best with dogs her size or larger. However, she does not do well with smaller dogs and likely would give chase to cats as well.

Akira is a very smart, loyal girl with an incredibly sweet personality. She is the perfect companion for someone who wants a strong bond with their dog and has the time to help her continue to blossom into a confident adult.

To learn more about Akira, please call 307-883-PETS, stop in on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm, or schedule an appointment.
